Jye Menzie has signed a one-year deal to remain at Essendon, locking him in the red and black until the end of 2025.
Menzie has featured in nine games at AFL level and has become a consistent contributor at the level, playing in multiple roles under coach Brad Scott.
The 2022 Pick 15 in the Mid-Season Draft, the 21-year-old has played 32 games for the Bombers, including 21 last year, kicking 23 goals playing predominantly as a forward.
Menzie has recently added another string to his bow in an attempt to add versatility to his game, playing in the backline and wing to good effect, something Scott would be pleased with.

โI'm so grateful to be signing on for this great club. I'm excited and optimistic about the direction we are going, and I'm thrilled to be a part of this journey we are on,โ Menzie said.
โI love the playing group and the ceiling hasn't even been scratched yet with what we can achieve together. I'd also like to thank the coaches and staff for backing me in and giving me this opportunity.
โI still have the same drive and passion as I did the night I was drafted and can't wait for what's to come individually and as a collective.โ
Essendon GM Daniel McPherson said Menzie's developed greatly since joining the club.
โSince arriving at the club in 2022, Jye has demonstrated his determination and willingness to grow as a footballer and take his game to the next level,โ McPherson said.
โJye has continuously taken feedback on board and has embraced any challenge given to him. We look forward to seeing his growth continue into 2025.โ
The news comes as Essendon tall Vigo Visentini penned a one-year extension also after joining the club as a rookie.
Menzie is currently outside the 23 but will be pushing his case as the club prepares for its clash against Adelaide on Friday.
