Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro spoke on AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday surrounding the trade situations for Adam Saad and Orazio Fantasia.
Dodoro provided an update on the pair after the club asked for high draft picks in exchange for the two Bombers, coming after both deals hit a bump due to the Dodoro's demands.
Dodoro believes both clubs will find a middle ground for the Saad deal to prevail.
“He’s (Saad) made it quite clear that he would like to get there,” Dodoro said.
“He finished top three in our best and fairest the last three years, he’s the best metres gained player in the competition and is clearly one of our better players.
“We want fair compensation for him. It’s incumbent upon them to come to us.
“I think that’s a fair deal (pick eight for Saad). If you look at all the deals over the previous years that that’s a fair deal.
“Carlton isn’t being unreasonable, but we’re discussing certain elements of that trade.
“As I said, we’ve had some chats and it’s all going reasonably well at the moment and I think we’ll get a quick resolution to it.
“They’ve got a position, we’ve got a position and we’ve just got to meet somewhere in the middle.”
Dodoro confirmed that the offer put forward from Port Adelaide for Fantasia is nowhere near what they want, with the Power offering a second-round selection for the forward.
“It’s incumbent upon them to come to us at this point in time,” Dodoro said.
“Pick 28 is something that’s going to blow out into the mid-30s in this draft so it’s not something that’s appealing to us.
“(Orazio) knows he has a contract and he’s happy to come back and have a great year here next year.”
