The AFL's Rising Star winner doesn't always result in being the best player from their draft class or even among the fellow young guns who are eligible for the award the same year.
Taking a broader look at the best Rising Star vote-getters this century, we've broken down the top five finishers from each year to see how well clubs have fared in developing fast-starting stars.
Brisbane have had the most top five Rising Star finishers since 2000 with 12, with two Lions going on to win the award, while Melbourne are the next best with 11.
The Demons have the equal most players to win the Rising Star this century with three, tied with Fremantle, who have had a total of eight players finish in the top five.
At the other end of the leaderboard, GWS have managed just three top-five Rising Star finishers in their short history with no overall winners.
The Giants join West Coast and the Western Bulldogs in being without a Rising Star winner since the turn of the century, with those clubs having six and seven players manage top-five finishes, respectively however.
Here's every Rising Star top five since 2000, with a club-by-club breakdown below.
