1. (1st) Brisbane

It couldn't be anyone else but the reigning premiers.

And how could it not be? The Lions head into 2025 with arguably the greatest depth in the competition, leaving them well-poised to go back-to-back.

They boast dual Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale, Norm Smith medallist Will Ashcroft, plus previous All-Australian squad member Hugh McCluggage.

Josh Dunkley slots into the mix as well, while up-and-coming gun Jaspa Fletcher holds down a spot on the wing. Jarrod Berry and Darcy Wilmot can rotate through too.

What demonstrates the Lions' depth more than anything, though, is the factย Levi Ashcroft may not be a walk-up starter to begin his career.ย Ashcroft, who debatably would've been Pick 1 had he not been a father-son, is touted as one of the more mature players from his draft class, both physically and mentally, yet may have to bide his time in the VFL to begin his career.

Oscar McInerney is the dependable ruckman, but the grand final proved that the club can rely on their backup trooper Darcy Fort when needed.

With the Lions' midfield mastery, it's unsurprising they led the league for clearances and ranked second for inside 50s in 2024.

Brisbane will head into 2025 rightfully praised as having the league's best midfield, with a stacked group of star footballers and reliable role players presenting oppositions with no weakness to target.
