Carlton's best season was in 2011 as the Blues defeated rivals, Essendon, in the elimination final to finish 5th for the season. Mick Malthouse took over in 2013 and after some early success, the Blues have been down the bottom ever since.
The Blues have been up and down in recent times and cannot manage to get out of the bottom four. This year saw another wooden spoon but the club has young talent growing in the form of Charlie Curnow, Jacob Weitering and Patrick Cripps.
The Blues' midfield is their strongest with arguably the greatest player of his generation, Chris Judd, lining up alongside the ferocious Cripps.
The forward line may be weaker when compared with some of the others, but Betts and Garlett are both capable of the spectacular.
