The VFL representative side ended a 23-year drought when they defeated the SANFL team at Tanunda Recreation Park by 11 points on Saturday, earning their first victory since 2002.
Placed in amongst the AFL's Gather Round situated in Adelaide, the Big V proved to be the more efficient side, kicking an impressive 18.6 (114) to 15.13 (103) in the Barossa Valley.
Littered with reserves competition stars and former AFL players, the VFL boasted talent on all lines, with Werribee Tigers defender Louis Pinnuck being the pick of the bunch.
Pinnuck was named the Frank Johnson Medal winner as the VFL's best player for his 21 disposals, six marks and two final-quarter goals in the tight contest.
Former Port Adelaide player and Southport Sharks leader Boyd Woodcock produced a stellar performance, recording 24 possessions and two goals, while his teammate and ex-Gold Coast ruckman Brayden Crossley was immense throughout the day.
Ex-Saint Riley Bonner led the VFL side for disposals, collecting 31 touches and 10 rebound 50s as former Sun and Williamstown's Brodie McLaughlin kicked four goals.
For the SANFL, Glenelg duo Liam McBean and Lachlan Hosie kicked five majors each, but to no avail.
North Adelaide's Harrison Wigg was dominant through the wing and half back, offering a calming presence on the way to 29 disposals.
South Australia's best-on-ground medallist (Fos Williams Medal) was former Brisbane-listed Glenelg star Corey Lyons (26 disposals, seven inside 50s), who proved his prominence throughout the contest, as did teammate James Bell (18 disposals, six clearances) and Sturt's Tom Lewis (22 touches and seven tackles).
