Conor McKenna's return to AFL circles has been officially greenlit, with the AFL signing off on the Northern Irishman's move to the Brisbane Lions.
Originally a Bomber, McKenna donned the sash on 79 occasions between 2015 and 2020 before returning to his first love, Gaelic Football.
Noted for his pace, the half-back dasher drew the eye of several clubs across the off-season, with McKenna meeting with each of Essendon, St Kilda and Port Adelaide before eventually landing on the Lions as his choice of home via the Supplementary Selection Period (SSP).
Despite failing to grace an AFL field since August of 2020, McKenna has turned out for GAA outfit County Tyrone, earning Sam Maguire Cup honours for the Red Hands during the 2021 All-Ireland Final.
McKenna's days as a Don saw him average 17.4 disposals and 3.25 rebound 50s each week, all the while dazzling crowds with his chip kicks at pace.
The rebounder now officially joins the Lions' litany of recent recruits, including father-son prospects Will Ashcroft and Jaspa Fletcher, free-agent Jack Gunston and star Dog Josh Dunkley.
