Former Cat Sam Simpson has found his new footballing home, signing a two-year deal with WAFL outfit Perth Demons.

After being drafted by Geelong as a father-son selection with the 53rd pick of the 2017 Rookie Draft, Simpson followed in his father Sean's footsteps, wearing the Cats' blue and white hoops on 25 occasions.

Throughout his seven seasons in the Pivot City, the fringe name averaged 11.8 touches per game, slotting 14 career goals with half coming in 2013.

At VFL level, Simpson produced ameliorated means, averaging 19 touches across his 11 state league appearances, as well as 2.6 tackles each outing.

Unable to ever feature at senior level on more than nine occasions in any single season, the forward-midfield hybrid, alongside Cooper Whyte and fellow father-son Cat Osca Riccardi, was delisted in early September.

Yet, as was announced by the Perth Football Club via Instagram on Wednesday, Simpson will don the Demons' red in black until at least the end of 2025.

"Sam will bring much-needed class and goal-kicking prowess to the Demons," Perth's post read.

"A powerful and explosive player, who in 2020 played in Geelong's Grand Final loss to Richmond, is excited by the opportunity to play for Perth in the WAFL and play a key role in the team."

Simpson is set to reunite with former teammate Charlie Constable at Mineral Resources Park, with the ex-Cat and recently delisted Sun agreeing to become a Demon in the wake of skippering Gold Coast to a maiden VFL flag in September.
