Former Geelong and Port Adelaide forward Steven Motlop has found his new footballing home, signing on to play with Hampden League outfit North Warrnambool for the 2024 season.

The Northern Territorian began his 14-season AFL career after joining the Cats with the 39th Pick of the 2008 AFL Draft, eventually wearing the club's famous hoops on 135 games.

After slotting 175 goals for the Pivitonians across nine seasons, Motlop made the move across the border, bagging a further 54 goals in 84 starts for the Power.

Now in his second season outside of the league, Motlop appears set to help North Warrnambool, a grand finalist from last season, as per reports from News Corp.

Previously, Motlop has represented NTFL outfits Wanderers and PINT, as well as Queensland club North Cairns Lions.

While the opportunity to help the Eagles go one better in 2024 proved to be a tantalising enough prospect for Motlop, North Warrnambool vice-president Shane Grundy claimed a previous relationship had helped the 32-year-old make up his mind.

“He's been close friends with Nathan (Vardy, the coach) since the Geelong AFL days and regularly kept in touch with him,” Grundy said.

“And we've been able to sign him up this year.

“It's a major coup for the club and the league (getting Motlop).

“The league has been strong the past couple of years but we can only hope and dream (of premiership success with him).”
