Adelaide SANFL skipper Jack Madgen is in line to miss his side's upcoming game after being handed a one-match suspension for using abusive language toward an umpire.

The SANFL's Match Review Panel handed down their findings on Tuesday evening, with Madgen's third-term remonstration with a match official during his side's clash with South Adelaide earning the ire of the umpire and the MRP.

It has been found that Madgen used 'abusive, insulting or obscene language towards or in relation to an umpire', with footage showing the former Collingwood backman's frustrations following a holding-the-ball call against the Crows.

Madgen was also penalised with a 25-metre penalty for his verbal insult.

The suspension will see the Crows captain miss his side's upcoming game against Woodville-West Torrens on Saturday at Adelaide Oval, with a return scheduled for Round 12 against Glenelg, given Adelaide's Round 11 bye.

Magden wasn't the only SANFL star to be handed a suspension from the weekend, with Eagles gun James Rowe charged with rough conduct and offered a one-game ban.

A high bump Central District's Brinn Little during the third term of Woodville-West Torrens's game against the Bulldogs was graded as careless conduct, high contact and medium impact, resulting in the one-game suspension.

The incident saw the ex-Crow make contact with Little's head as the Dogs players went to pick up the ball, with Rowe seemingly going past the ball and knocking his opponent to the ground before Little slowly returned to his feet and took a free kick after Rowe was penalised for making high contact.

The 24-year-old and the Eagles have since decided to challenge the MRP's findings.

Should the suspension be upheld, it would put a line through Rowe's Magarey Medal chances following his strong start to the 2024 season.

A one-game ban will also see Rowe miss his side's upcoming game against Adelaide and next be available for selection in Round 12 against North Adelaide.
