Ex-Crow Richard Douglas lands dual-positon job with SANFL club Glenelg

Former Adelaide utility Richard Douglas has returned to SANFL club Glenelg, joining the Tigers as the men's senior assistant coach and the football operations and talent manager of their women's cohort.

Douglas brings with him nearly 250 games of AFL experience, having played with the Crows between 2006-2019.

The 35-year-old won best and fairest honours at West Lakes in 2010 and would represent Australia on two occasions as part of the International Rules series against Ireland in 2011.

During the early years of his AFL career, Douglas plied his trade with Glenelg, where he shined to eventually catch the earn further opportunities in the top flight with Adelaide.

Over a decade on from his last appearance in black and gold, Douglas is now set to return to the Bay in an off-field capacity.

“We expect him to offer great support to Lexia (Edwards - GFCW coach), our assistant coaches and the GFCW playing squad, as well as our South East zone," Glenelg CEO Justin Scripps said in a club announcement.

"We also expect Richard to be a great support in our senior men's program, especially with our leadership group and talented emerging players."

Douglas, a Broadford product out of Victoria, has remained in football since leaving the Crows in 2019, joining SANFL side Norwood in recent seasons.

He also also held roles at St Peter's College, the Simon Black Academy and in sports management.
