Former Melbourne-listed defender Kye Turner has swapped VFL clubs, heading to Williamstown for the 2025 season.

The 22-year-old was cut from the Demons at the end of last year after a single season in the red and blue, with his time at AFL level hampered by a groin injury.

The key defender suited up for six games for Casey in the VFL and fell short of an AFL debut before being delisted.

Recruited out of the VAFA and with some VFL experience to his name, Turner earned a spot on Melbourne's list via the Supplemental Selection Period in the lead-up to the 2023 season.

He returned to the state league level this year with Port Melbourne and would feature in three games for the Borough as injuries continued to take their toll.

Turner has now moved from the standalone side to another, linking up with Williamstown for the coming year.

"It gives us great pleasure to introduce Kye Turner as a new Seagull," a club post read.

"Turner played fifteen games in the VAFA for Old Haileybury and twice in the VFL for Frankston in 2022, before being signed by the Melbourne Demons where he continued to play in the VFL with Casey.

"The 22-year-old joins us after playing for Port Melbourne in the 2024 season. Turner's playing style is distinguished by his great defensive effort, speed, and ability to read the game, making him a valuable asset in both defence and as a utility player across the board."

Turner joins fellow ex-AFL-listed players in Lachie Gollant, Carter Michael and Hugo Hall-Kahan in venturing to DSV Stadium this off-season.

Williamstown finished eighth on the VFL ladder in 2024 before exiting the finals via a loss to Brisbane in week three of the series.
