VFL outfit Port Melbourne look to have added to their growing ex-Essendon ranks for the 2025 season with the addition of delisted forward Jayden Davey.
Davey has spent most of his summer since leaving the Bombers in the Northern Territory, suiting up for NTFL side Palmerston on five occasions between mid-December and February.
The youngster, who turns 21 on Wednesday, looks set to return to Victoria for the year ahead and ply his trade with Port Melbourne in the VFL.
Davey - who was pictured in Borough colours on the club's social media channel this weekend - lands at North Port Oval amid another strong off-season of recruitment for the standalone club in both the player and staff departments.
Port Melbourne have signed Davey's former Essendon teammates Dyson Heppell and Tex Wanganeen for the 2025 season, while Dom Bedendo, Charlie Lazzaro and James Van Es have also flocked to the Borough straight out of the AFL.
Adding to the Bombers connection is the arrival of club great James Hird as a coaching director at Port Melbourne, joining the club alongside newly-appointed coach Brendan McCartney who has succeeded Adam Skrobalak.
The Borough have also added premiership Bomber Steven Alessio to an assistant coaching role, while Carlton great Marc Murphy has also signed in a coaching capacity.
Port Melbourne's signing of Davey comes after the father-son selection's pair of seasons at Tullamarine, with the Oakleigh Chargers product following in his dad Alwyn Sr.'s and joining the Bombers alongside twin Awlyn Jnr.
Davey entered the AFL midway through recovery from an ACL injury that damped his draft campaign back in 2022, with the crafty forward not featuring in the red and black until the start of the 2024 VFL season.
He would play 18 games at the state league level last year, booting 17 goals from 9.0 disposals per game.
Port Melbourne will be looking to better their 16th-placed finish from last year in 2025. The club's pre-season schedule gets underway on Saturday against Frankston as part of the standalone carnival in Ballarat.
The Borough will also face Box Hill and Geelong in preparation for the season's start, however the VFL fixture is yet to be released.
