Collingwood will select Mid-Season Draft recruit and former Hawthorn midfielder Ned Long for Friday's clash with Essendon.
Long joined the Magpies out of the club's VFL program through May's intake following a stellar start to his first year at Olympic Park.
The reigning premiers used the 19th selection of the Mid-Season Draft to hand Long his second chance in the AFL.
The 21-year-old was delisted by Hawthorn at the cessation of last season after two years with the club, who he joined via the 2021 Rookie Draft.
Long played five games in the brown and gold during his time under coach Sam Mitchell before being axed.
Across seven games for the Magpies' reserves this year, Long has averaged 22.1 disposals, 4.1 marks and 4.7 clearances per game at VFL level.
He was joined by Iliro Smit in joining the Magpies as a mid-year recruit.
Long's inclusion comes as Collingwood lose Beau McCreery (calf) and John Noble (concussion) for Round 17 through injury.
Midfielder Josh Daicos (calf) is also in doubt, while small forward Lachie Schultz is likely to return following illness.
Long becomes the club's ninth debutant of 2024, following Lachie Sullivan, Charlie Dean, Joe Richards, Tew Jiath, Wil Parker and Ed Allan, as well as recruits Lachie Schultz and Jack Bytel.
Collingwood will finalise their squad for Friday's clash against Essendon on Thursday at 6:20pm (AEST).
