Former Sydney Swans key defender Will Gould has joined a new club for the 2024 season after being delisted at the end of last season.

Named the VFL's Player of the Year in 2022, Gould will return to the Glenelg Tigers - a club for which he won a SANFL premiership in 2019 - after a four-year stint with the Sydney Swans.

Selected with Pick 26 in the 2019 National AFL Draft, the 191cm defender managed four AFL games for the club but spent most of his time with the club's VFL team.

He would then be farewelled by the club at the start of October alongside Ryan Clarke, Hugo Hall-Kahan, Cameron Owen, Lachlan Rankin and Marc Sheather.

Glenelg's confirmation of Gould's arrival follows him revealing to SEN SAย that if he were not picked up by another club for next season, he would 'certainly be back in the SANFL'.

โ€œI'm absolutely stoked to be back at the Bay. I can't wait to get back amongst the group post Christmas, and try to back up what was an amazing year for the club!โ€ย he said in a club statement.

Coming through the Glenelg junior ranks as a youngster, Gould made his debut for the club at 18 years of age in 2019, making 15 League appearances.

The season with the club also saw him awarded captain honours for the South Australia Under-18s team that year and a selection into the Under-18s All-Australian team.
