With four rounds completed, the race for the Zero Hanger MVP is tightening at the top, with Tom Liberatore's brilliant performance against Carlton catapulting him into a tie for first.

In a tight contest on Friday night, Liberatore led from the front with 11 tackles, 30 touches and a goal to steady a Bontempelli-less Bulldogs midfield. Liberatore's 18 votes now place him equal first alongside Lions midfielder and former teammate Josh Dunkley in our MVP race.

Sam Davidson also produced his best performance in a Bulldogs jumper, with a game-high 31-disposal effort and 15 votes in just his third game of AFL football.

Back on Thursday night, Sam Durham was Essendon's standout performer in a chaotic game. The hard-running midfielder was a key figure in their victory over Port Adelaide, earning 17 votes for his 28 disposals along with five clearances.

Matt Rowell has continued to impress in 2025 with a monstrous performance against the Demons. Rowell was a beast in the middle, recording an astounding 13 clearances — more than double the next best (Harvey Langford, six). This, along with his 36 disposals and a game-high seven tackles, was enough to clinch a perfect 20 votes for the round.

St Kilda midfielder Jack Sinclair had a day out against the vulnerable Tigers, recording our second 20-vote performance for the round with 689 metres gained from 40 disposals. Mitchito Owens was also outstanding for the Saints, earning 13 votes for a game-high four goals.

Will Ashcroft was everywhere for the Lions as they overcame a sluggish start to defeat the Cats. Ashcroft was particularly effective in the second half as his team overturned a 32-point deficit, kicking a goal and gathering 33 touches to earn himself 18 votes.

Cameron Mackenzie was enormous in windy conditions for the Hawks as they defeated a red-hot Giants team to continue their unbeaten start. Mackenzie has struggled to find consistent game time since being drafted in 2022 but produced arguably his best performance on Saturday night. 30 disposals, including five clearances and five tackles, earned the 21-year-old 16 votes, narrowly ahead of teammates Nick Watson (15 votes) and Will Day (13 votes).

Jake Soligo was red-hot for the Crows, with his 16 votes pushing him up to equal eighth on our MVP table. The 22-year-old midfielder kicked a goal along with his 28 disposals and six clearances.

Meanwhile, Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong were both back to their best as Fremantle emerged victorious in the Western Derby. Brayshaw gathered six clearances and seven tackles to go along with his 29 disposals, earning himself 17 votes, while Serong compiled the most touches of the game with 35 disposals and 16 MVP votes.
