West Coast players Bailey Williams, Harry Edwards, and Harry Barnett will be on light training duties for a short-term period to recover from minor injuries sustained during the Eagles' pre-season training.

Ruckman Williams has sustained a hamstring strain and will be kept on light duties for the remainder of West Coast's pre-Christmas program. The 199cm 24-year-old was a consistent member of the Eagles side in 2024, playing in all 23 games.

Similarly, fellow ruckman Barnett will also be kept to light training as he overcomes a calf strain. He too is anticipated to return to full training following the Christmas break.

Earlier in the year, a shin injury restricted him from playing AFL or WAFL football for four weeks.

Key defender Edwards has developed bone stress in his foot and will be placed in a protective boot precautionarily.

Edwards played nine games in 2024, suffering a concussion knock in August this year. The 39-gamer also had an injury-riddled 2023 with groin, ankle, and wrist concerns limiting him to just two games.

West Coast's Head of Football John Worsfold said the players are expected to overcome the concerns within a short time frame.

Harry Edwards reported some foot soreness after training this week and we are taking precautionary measures by de-loading his training program,” Worsfold said.

“He will require a period without running and we will reassess his progress over the coming weeks.

Bailey Williams and Harry Barnett will be on modified duties for a brief period but are set to resume training with the group when the players return from their Christmas break.”

The Eagles opening clash in 2025 comes in Round 1 against Gold Coast on Sunday, March 16.
