Brisbane coach Chris Fagan remains staunch in his optimism to do some damage in September, pending the Lions' likely qualification with a Saturday night win over Essendon.
They'll be one of the most talked about teams in the race for the flag, regardless of how they finish, being a team firmly in the premiership window with the highest pass-mark of anyone.
One potential hindrance to their success has been debated strongly in the week ahead of Round 24, coming off a thrilling loss and flashback encounter with Collingwood at the MCG, where countless opportunities to seal a win were squandered by inaccuracy and alleged selfishness.
Asked about the amount of opportunities to pass to teammates being ignored, Fagan said "they happen from time to time, I wouldn't say it's a regular occurrence for us."
"There was obviously disappointment that we had a couple of opportunities to put ourselves right in the running for top four, and it appears now that's probably going to be difficult," the Lions' coach lamented.
"We've just lost two games that, let's be honest, we should have won.
"Not taking our opportunities in front of goal, either by not completing plays or missing shots that we should kick has cost us dearly."
Fagan didn't shy away from the narrative, instead sharing his perspective from inside the four walls of the club to reveal all mistakes made are from a team-first place.
One notably scrutinised culprit, Joe Daniher, plays his 200th game on Saturday night, and his coach is eager to put him in a positive headspace ahead of the milestone match.
"He always puts the team first and when he makes some of those mistakes that everybody makes comment on, it's usually coming from a place that he's just trying to help the team and every now and then he gets it wrong."
"He seems to pay a larger price for that than some... Joey can make a decision to take a shot at goal when maybe he should've passed it, and we're all over him like a ton of bricks."
The status of Jarrod Berry will be another crucial part of Brisbane's likely finals run, having proved an ability to feature prominently in the biggest games of the season.
It appears his hamstring concern from the Round 23 loss is nothing more than that, with a strong chance of lining up on Saturday night.
"He's a good chance, the scan was very positive," Fagan revealed.
"We'll just see how he goes today at training, he was running on Tuesday and running quite well, seemed to be pain-free."
"It's a more neural type of incident than a muscle tear."
"We won't take any risks obviously, but he's a good chance to play."
The re-signing of former skipper and club champion Dayne Zorko should give the side a buzz for their final act of the home & away campaign, especially following Fagan's glowing praise for the 35-year-old.
"He's had a super year playing in a new position. We explored that a little bit in the last couple of years but he's gone back there full time since Keidean Coleman did his ACL."
"Really good news that he gets to go on for another year... he'll go down in history as one of our all-time great players."
The Lions are still not locked into the final eight, though a Saturday night could still see them scrape into the top four, should Geelong somehow fall to the Eagles at home.
