The Victorian government has announced that 7,000 fans will be allowed to attend the Geelong vs Western bulldogs game on Friday night.
The game is being played at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong, regional Victoria, with fans required to be members to make contact tracing as easy as possible.
Acting Premier James Merlino made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon after many people had complained about the fact regional Victoria were suffering similar restrictions to metropolitan Melbourne despite having no active cases.
Crowds must also be from the local area despite the 25km travel limit being removed from 11:59pm Wednesday night.
There will be no games at the MCG or Marvel Stadium this weekend, however the AFL is hopeful they will be able to welcome back clubs and crowds by next weekend.
