Last nights all-new The Footy Show proved to be a ratings hit with an average of 381,000 viewers tuning into Nine's show while an average of 180,000 watched Channel Seven's show The Front Bar.

The return of Eddie McGuire and a two-week hiatus proved to be a ratings success as the figure was 200,000 viewers higher then The Footy Show's lowest rating show this year.

As well as changes to hosts and segments, the show also looked different with a single desk with capacity for seven people, rather than two desks, while it also took a more relaxed approach, with males on the show not wearing ties.

The Collingwood president and Rebecca Maddern shared the hosting roles on the left of the desk with Sam Newman in the middle of the pair.

Comedian Dave Hughes was on the far right of the desk with various players and guests seated in the middle.

But the high ratings may not be a sign of the shows success.

A News Corp poll asked footy fans what they thought of the all-new Footy Show. The options were loved it, hated it and 'meh'.

Of the 3.8k fans who voted, 49% voted for the 'meh' option, 36% voted for loved it and 15% voted for hated it.

Some fans on Twitter were excited about the re-launch, but overall, it was mixed feelings for from the viewers.

 

The 'Footybox' concept, based on Foxtel/ Ten's Google box, proved to be a hit with fans.

But some people we less than impressed with the change-up.

Others compared The Footy Show to The Front Bar.

Fans also had a lot to say about Hughesy.
