AFLW general manager Emma Moore said she was excited for Round 10, looking forward to the second half of the Indigenous Round and crowning the McClelland Trophy winner.
โThe 2024 NAB AFLW season has been great so far, with the rise of new clubs and memorable moments every week,โ Moore said.
โThe race for the McClelland Trophy is heating up, with the Brisbane Lions, Hawthorn and Fremantle vying for the $1 million. By Sunday of Week 10, all eyes will be on who the best-performed club is across the men's and women's leagues.
โWeek 10 promises to be a thrilling finale to the home-and-away season, and the AFL are especially proud to once again celebrate Indigenous Round, honouring the rich cultural contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to our game.โ
Some of the highlight matches scheduled for Round 10 are kicking off on the Friday night with Geelong hosting Adelaide at GMHBA Stadium, with the match potential being of high stakes as the Crows push for a top four and the Cats look to make the top eight.
Sunday is set for a blockbuster with severe ramifications.
The day sees the current top eight teams Brisbane, Hawthorn, Richmond and Fremantle all feature, with their results potentially having consequences for who claims the $1 million prize for the best-performed club across both the 2024 men's and women's seasons.
Sunday will see St Kilda face Brisbane at RSEA Park. The Saints may be trying to cement their place in the finals, and Brisbane will be wanting to secure their place in the top four.
Later in the afternoon it will be an expected top-four clash between Richmond and Hawthorn at the Swinburne Centre, which could determine Week 1 of finals and who may get a second chance.
Head of Broadcast Operations and Scheduling, Josh Bowler, said he was excited to have another fixture that maximised interest for fans.
โWe are looking forward to what promises to be an exciting final week of the season,โ Mr. Bowler said.
โThe stakes couldn't be higher, with top four and top eight spots still in play. On behalf of the AFL, I'd like to thank all the clubs, venues and our broadcast partners for their cooperation in finalising this fixture and ensuring there is maximum drama for our fans on the final weekend of the home and away season.โ
At the conclusion of the home and away season, every team would have played 11 matches for the season, a new initiative this year to get more games and build attraction of AFLW by having games from Tuesday to Sunday in some rounds.
