With Scott Pendlebury's stellar stint as captain of Collingwood coming to an end, attention turns toward assessing who will take his place at Magpieland.
Pendlebury's run as skipper in the black and white reached a club record 206 matches, stretching from January 2014 to December 2022.
Even in his earliest days with the Magpies, Pendlebury loomed destined to one day step into the captain's role, and it's fair to say the poised midfielder didn't disappoint.
While his leadership will still be felt on and off the field next year, who steps into his shoes in 2023?
Here we name the five most likely options for Collingwood to consider as they weigh up the appointment of their 48th club captain.

Likely the first name that comes to mind when assessing who might be Pendlebury's successor.
Moore is an architect in Craig McRae's defence and would be an astute option for Collingwood to hand the captaincy to in the post-Pendleubry era.
The All-Australian defender joined the Magpies' leadership group in 2021 and was elevated to vice-captain ahead of this season.
That trajectory could very well continue, with Moore our favourite to take over the reins at Olympic Park and lead Collingwood into an era of promise and optimism.
He would also follow in the footsteps of his father, Peter, who led Collingwood for two seasons in the 1980s.
Much like Moore, Maynard is a general on Collingwood's last line, often getting the best out of his teammates as a vocal leader in McRae's rearguard.
Should Moore not get the nod, then look toward his teammate and backline partner in the fiery Maynard.
Brimming with courage, Maynard enjoyed a stellar 2022 campaign to earn All-Australian honours, with plenty of plaudits coming as a result of his ability to guide Collingwood's younger stocks.
While not a player from the Magpies;' 2022 leadership group, Maynard is likely in line for a promotion even if he misses out on the captaincy.
Pendlebury's partner in crime for the last decade and one of the skipper's three vice-captains in 2022, Adams is another fitting option to replace the departing club great as captain.
Adams has played 152 games for the Magpies since joining the club in 2013 and has often left nothing on the field by the time the final siren sounds.
Had he remained with GWS, there would've been every chance Adams may have taken on the captaincy for the New South Wales side.
Adams is a courageous and strong leader, much like Pendlebury, whom Collingwood's search committee are set to strongly consider.
An older option for the magpies to consider give Howe will turn 33 years old midway through next season.
But instead of questioning the decision, as Howe will likely serve no longer than two seasons, this call would see the magpies planning further ahead.
Howe's reign may even end after one season given his contract is due to expire at the end of next year, but it might just give Collingwood the needed time to re-assess their captaincy for the long haul.
The younger ranks of Nick Daicos, Patrick Lipinski and Isaac Quaynor could take over from Howe as early as 2024.
Mr Durable, Crisp has been a key cog for the Magpies since his first day at the club, having played 182 consecutive games in the black and white across nine seasons without injury or suspension.
The former Lion has also claimed the last two Copeland Trophies after moving into the midfield, where he was been a leading force for Collingwood.
Perhaps more of a left-field option for the Magpies to consider, but Crisp certainly wouldn't be out of place as captain of the Victorian powerhouse.
The 200-gamer is perhaps a name to weigh up should Collingwood even consider co-captains from 2023, with Crisp and any of Moore, Adams, Maynard and Howe all formidable options.
