FIVE potential landing spots for Peter Ladhams

Port Adelaide ruck-forward Peter Ladhams is on the lookout for a new home after being told by the Power that he should consider a move elsewhere this trade period.

The 23-year-old is contracted for next year, but is a victim of a crowded Port forward-line.

Scott Lycett is the first-choice ruck, and key forwards Charlie Dixon (two years), Todd Marshall (one year) and Mitch Georgiades (two years) are all locked in for the foreseeable future.

These five clubs may consider making a move for the Norwood product:

Sydney

The Swans were reportedly seriously interested in Ladhams last year, before trading for then-Eagles ruck Tom Hickey.

Despite the success that came from acquiring Hickey, the 30-year-old is nearing the latter stages of his career and Sydney could once again be in the market for a tall.

Callum Sinclair (31 years of age) just signed a one-year extension at the Swans despite managing just four senior games in 2021, while Sam Naismith (29) has had a luckless run with injuries over the course of the past two seasons.

Acquiring Ladhams could free up the likes of Lance Franklin, Logan McDonald, and Hayden McLean, as well as assist Hickey in the ruck.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Swans have an interest in trading for Ladhams in 2021.

Collingwood

The Magpies are in need of a tall forward, with 29-gamer Darcy Cameron and Brody Mihocek currently making up the brunt of Collingwood's shallow key position presence.

Mason Cox's future in black and white is uncertain, as the 30-year-old Texan is currently without a contract for the 2022 season.

Collingwood recently tried to tempt out-of-favour Melbourne forward Sam Weideman to Victoria Park, before he eventually re-committed to the Demons on reduced money.

Nabbing Ladhams to partner with Cameron and Brodie Grundy in the ruck might be a smart move for the Pies to make.

Essendon

After the retirements of Cale Hooker and Patrick Ambrose, the Bombers could be surveying for help to aid promising forward duo Peter Wright and Harrison Jones.

Ladhams could assist first-choice ruck Sam Draper and provide Wright the opportunity to be a full-time forward in 2022.

However, unlike last year, Essendon does not have ample draft capital to facilitate a trade with the Power. That, coupled with the recent re-signing of veteran ruck Andrew Phillips for another year, and the Dons may be content with their current crop of talls.

Carlton

Coleman medallist Harry McKay is widely considered as the game's premier key forward at the minute, but he hasn't got a lot of help inside forward-50.

Levi Casboult has not been offered a new deal past 2021, Mitch McGovern has been inconsistent at best during his time at Princes Park, often-injured Charlie Curnow has managed just 15 games over the last two years, and 22-gamer Tom De Koning has shown promise but is still a largely unproven commodity.

The Blues would surely have interest in Ladhams as a ruck-forward, but with draft picks potentially headed Fremantle for Adam Cerra, will they have the required assets to pull a move off?

Brisbane

Brisbane's talls stocks are thin, with key forward Eric Hipwood set to miss a fair portion of next season after suffering an ACL injury in July, and opportunity-starved ruck Archie Smith requesting a trade after zero senior appearances in 2021.

The Lions would benefit from Ladhams coming in and being able to chop out the workload for Oscar McInerney in the middle, as well as providing another key position option up forward alongside Joe Daniher and Daniel McStay.

Brisbane currently hold two late first-round picks in November's draft and could table an enticing offer to Port Adelaide, but can they lure Ladhams up north?
