1. Josh Kelly is worth every cent
Josh Kelly was brilliant against West Coast, he recorded a career best 43 disposals and a goal. He had a lot of contested ball and put his body on the line as was clear in his heavy collision with Josh Kennedy.
This makes it even more clear that the young Giant is worth every bit of the $9 million North Melbourne is reportedly throwing at him. The 22-year old has years of football left in him and no matter where he ends up in 2018, the fans of that club will be very lucky.
2. The Dockers look to be going nowhere fast
The Dockers put up an insipid display against Richmond in front of their home fans on Sunday. It was a very sad day for Fremantle, and is likely to provide them with a reality check.
Before the game, some were even predicting an upset Tigers loss, however, that didn't come close to eventuating. Jacob Townsend has been playing some good VFL football, but Ross Lyon is likely to be very disappointed that his defence let Townsend kick six goals.
They are not rebuilding and they are definitely not contending. So where exactly does that place Fremantle? At the moment, nowhere.
3. Cale Hooker isn't alone anymore
Sadly no matter what Cale Hooker does, some will still remember him for that failed chase of Buddy Franklin. However now, he isn't alone.
On Friday night, Franklin did it again. Try as he might, Daniel Talia couldn't lay a finger on the Swans star as he bounded down the sideline and slotted a brilliant goal from the boundary.
So Cale Hooker now has a pal in what is a club that nobody wants to be in.
4. James Sicily continues to do himself no favours
James Sicily is having a great season, however, he continues to let himself down with his actions and attitude. On the weekend the forward turned defender let Jed Lamb get under his skin and gave away seven free kicks.
Again he had a problem with a teammate, this time showing visible displeasure with Tom Mitchell. This comes after he had a heated exchange with Taylor Duryea during a game last month.
Sicily has the promise to be a star, however, is quickly becoming one of the game's more polarising players. If he continues to go over the line, he will only do himself damage.
5. Round 23 is set to be intense
It's all set to go down in Round 23, with many spots in the top eight yet to be decided. With results that occurred over round 22, our finals teams are not set in stone, nor is the top four.
Not only will who takes part in September action be decided, but so may the number one draft pick. Bottom two, Brisbane and North Melbourne will play against each other to decide the wooden spoon and the No.1 draft pick.
So if you can, park yourself in front of the television this weekend, because there is sure to be plenty of fireworks.
