The Giants don't manage to lure too many players to Sydney's west from rival AFL clubs, but they have managed to get the best out of some bargain buys over the years.

Spearhead Jesse Hogan and fellow ex-Demon Toby Bedford are the leading examples, with both players holding down critical roles in last year's preliminary final finish under coach Adam Kingsley.

Similar moves might need to be made at the end of the 2024 season as GWS see their premiership prospects sliding as we enter the back half of the year.

So who could the Giants chase come the end of the year? Perhaps a lockdown defender and some more key position assistance?

We name five players for GWS to potentially chase this off-season...

3. Elliott Himmelberg

The Giants were hopeful to lure Himmelberg to Sydney's west last off-season in a move that would've seen the Crows tall reunite with brother Harry in the orange and charcoal.

A move couldn't arise as the Crows failed to bring in the needed assets that would've permitted a move, with the failed deal meaning GWS also didn't lose anything from their draft hand.

A year later and Himmelberg is yet to come even cheaper should he seek a move to the Giants for the second time in as many years, with the Wagga Wagga junior eligible as a free agent and likely back in the sights of the New South Wales side.

Perhaps looking for a player who can alleviate Jake Riccardi from having to feature as a supporting ruckman, Himmelberg can support first-string tall Kieren Briggs while also being of use at either end of the ground as a swingman option.
