The Cats are notorious for plucking big names, regardless of age, from rival sides in an effort to gain immediate success.
However, in recent years it hasn't exactly paid dividends, with last year's Grand Final loss the closest they've come to the holy grail in a decade.
With this, is it time that Scott and his recruiting staff started to focus on less prominent and more youthful players in an effort to propel them to another flag?
We continue our โFive trade targets for every clubโ series withย Geelong.ย The idea of these stories is to identify potentially gettable targets who could fill roles, not just link every club to the likes ofย Marcus Bontempelliย andย Patrick Cripps.
In no particular order, here are five players which the Cats recruitment team would do well to target and potentially poach.
2. Matthew Flynn
The Giants big man hasn't had a lot of time in the sun in Western Sydney since he was drafted in 2015. He has only played AFL football seven times, and they've all come this season.
There is no doubt that when Braydon Preuss comes back into the side it might spell the end of his time at the Giants should he fail to make an impression on Leon Cameron.
However, he hasn't been bad in the time that he has had in the team. He's ranked 14th in total hit-outs - not bad at all for a man that's only played seven matches - and is ranked 12th for contested marks per game.

Considering he is off-contract come the end of this year, it'd be wise of Geelong to throw in a bid for him considering he most likely wouldn't cost much and would be looking for his next chapter.
