The Cats are notorious for plucking big names, regardless of age, from rival sides in an effort to gain immediate success.
However, in recent years it hasn't exactly paid dividends, with last year's Grand Final loss the closest they've come to the holy grail in a decade.
With this, is it time that Scott and his recruiting staff started to focus on less prominent and more youthful players in an effort to propel them to another flag?
We continue our โFive trade targets for every clubโ series withย Geelong.ย The idea of these stories is to identify potentially gettable targets who could fill roles, not just link every club to the likes ofย Marcus Bontempelliย andย Patrick Cripps.
In no particular order, here are five players which the Cats recruitment team would do well to target and potentially poach.
3. Darcy Tucker
Another Docker that the Cats are by all reports trying to bring to Kardinia Park,ย Tucker has been solid for Fremantle so far. Playing 84 games for the side since his debut in 2016, he had a bad hamstring injury last year which saw him play only eight games for the season.
So far in 2021 he has played six games, and has done well at his role across half-back and midfield. Tucker averages 3.3 tackles per game, 2.4 clearances as well as 0.9 shots at goal, solid numbers for a man of his position.

Similar to his teammate Darcy, Tucker will be looking for a move back to Victoria, and if Geelong can snag both of them, they will be massive pickups for the club.
