Footage has emerged of Collingwood president Eddie McGuire stating that the next AFL players to defy the league's COVID-19 protocols should be suspended for the entire season and fined $100,000, per the Herald Sun.

McGuire, who was left heated on the panel of Footy Classified following a trio of Fremantle players breaching the AFL's coronavirus laws, demanded the merciless punishments in late April.

The video emerged after Collingwood star Steele Sidebottom was handed a four-game suspension for breaching strict guidelines set by the league.

โ€œThis is the reason why the AFL are trying to show social leadership and do everything right along the way,โ€ McGuire declared.

โ€œAnd Iโ€™m saying once we get back there will be absolutely no sense of humour about anybody climbing out the window or letting someone climb in the window.

โ€œThat will be absolutely made clear.โ€

โ€œSo maybe it has to be $100,000 and he gets suspended for the year. What do we have to tell people?

โ€œWe are trying to claw back five hundred to $600 million.

โ€œNo-one will have a job next year. Pull your heads in. I hope that comes up at the AFL Playersโ€™ Association membership meeting tonight.โ€

Sidebottom's suspension came after details emerged of his booze-related night out in Williamstown last weekend.

The 29-year-old was found guilty by the AFL for breaching three separate COVID-19 protocols by visiting teammate Jeremy Howe for an extended period of time, using an Uber for transportation and visiting former teammate Daniel Wells, who is not within the Magpies' personal 'bubble'.

The club has since accepted the suspension for the "greater good of the gameโ€, but had initially labeled the verdict "excessive and inconsistent".
