Former Sydney-listed ruckman Cameron Owen has signed with Victorian local club Frankston YCW for the 2025 season.
Owen spent the 2023 season with the Swans and would not break through for an AFL debut during his time in New South Wales, instead playing 18 games in the VFL.
The 204cm youngster was delisted by Sydney last year and landed with Footscray, with Owen adding a further 10 games to his VFL tally in 2024 - averaging 5.7 disposals, 13.5 hitouts and a goal every second game.
The Tasmanian featured in Footscray's finals matches against Brisbane and Southport, having arguably his best game of the year in the qualifying final win over the Lions.
Owen also played one game for VAFA club Old Ivanhoe in 2024, with his local football ties now venturing to the Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League with Frankston YCW.
"Introducing our newest addition, Cam Owen. Standing tall at 204cm and weighing in at 102kg, Cam brings a powerful presence to the field," a club post read.
"Hailing from Hobart, he made his mark playing for the Tasmania Devils in the U17s and U18s, before being drafted by the Sydney Swans in the 2022 Rookie Draft.
"After a year on their list, he's now taking his talents to Footscray in the VFL. We're excited to see him in action and stoked Cam is calling the Stonecats home."
The signing of Owen comes shortly after the Stonecats confirmed deals for ex-Essendon small forward Ned Cahill and former Brisbane-listed player Mitch Cox.
Frankston YCW finished third on the MPFNL ladder with 11 wins from 18 games during the home and away season before bowing out in the preliminary final to Mt. Eliza.
