North Melbourne Football Club has bolstered its VFL squad for the upcoming 2024 season with the addition of former AFL players Sam Hayes and Mitch Hannan.
The announcement comes as the Roos finalised their squad in preparation for the season opener at Arden Street Oval this Saturday.
Hannan played 50 games for Melbourne and a further 26 with the Western Bulldogs between 2017-2021.
He demonstrated ability as a versatile high half-forward and integral part of multiple deep finals runs, kicking the game-sealing goal in Melbourne's illustrious elimination final victory over Geelong in 2018, before featuring in the Bulldogs' thrilling 2021 grand final run.
Now 30 years old, he brings a wealth of talent, athleticism and experience to the Roos' lineup.
Hayes entered the AFL as one of the more highly touted ruckmen in the 2017 draft class and managed 11 appearances for Port Adelaide with over 25 hitouts per game.
He was delisted by the Power at the end of 2023 before returning home to Melbourne, also joining VAFA side University Blues.
He now adds to a significantly bolstered North Melbourne lineup as they welcome a number of emerging young stars along with the two former AFL players.
North Melbourne's VFL season kicks off this weekend as they host the Northern Bullants at Arden Street this Saturday at 3:05pm.
