Former Bomber Anthony Munkara will return to Victoria for the 2024 season, with the Tiwi Islander linking up with country football outfit Warragul Industrials in an effort to rekindle his young AFL career.

Munkara began life with the Bombers after making his way to Tullamarine via the 2022 Rookie Draft after impressing as part of Essendon's Next Generation Acadamy.

While originally seen as a long-term project by those at The Hangar, Munkara made tracks from Bomberland after being delisted by the Dons after just one season.

"Anthony has learned a lot during his time at Essendon and has shown good talent and capability at stages this year," Bombers' GM of performance Daniel McPherson said in September of last year.

"We wish him the best with his future and his return to Tiwi Islands."

Though the 19-year-old did initially return to the Northern Territory, slotting 20 goals in nine starts for Warratah, Warragul FC's social media team announced on Wednesday that Munkara had put pen to paper to join the Dusties in 2024.

"Anthony joins us from the Essendon Bombers, aiming to establish himself in Victoria with the goal of rejoining a list again in the future," the early-January announcement read.

"Essendon's NGA product was selected in the 2022 rookie draft. With undeniable X-factor, he's a major win for the club and is anticipated to dazzle fans, not only Dusties but footy enthusiasts across the board."

Across his 15 outings for Essendon's VFL side in 2023, Munkara booted 14 goals.

Warragul finished the 2023 season in sixth place on the West Gippsland Football Netball League ladder, ending with a 10-8 record before eventually bowing out to Phillip Island by way of a two-point prelimary final loss.
