Former Western Bulldogs utility player Roarke Smith has found a new home in 2025, signing with Balranald in the Central Murray Football League.

Smith was delisted by the Bulldogs at the end of 2023 after 47 games following his rookie drafting eight years earlier.

The Calder Cannons product performed above his expectations, including playing in a season-high 14 matches in 2021, as well as the grand final defeat against Melbourne.

Following his delisting, Smith joined VFL club Port Melbourne, playing 11 games and performing player development coaching duties.

"The BFNC is thrilled to welcome Roarke Smith for the upcoming season," a Balranald post read.

"Roarke brings a wealth of experience from his time with the Western Bulldogs, where he showcased his versatility as an athletic utility, capable of playing across multiple positions. Originally drafted from the Calder Cannons, he made his AFL debut in 2015 and went on to play a key role in the Bulldogs 2021 finals campaign.

"Last season Roarke played with Port Melbourne, further adding to his experience at a high level. With his elite vertical leap, contested ball ability and on field leadership, we have no doubt he will make at huge impact at the Roos.

"We can't wait to see Roarke in Blue and White this season."

Balranald finished the 2024 season in fifth and made the second week of the finals following a victory over the Cohuna Kangas.
