Former Carlton and Brisbane midfielder Tom Bell has swapped local clubs for 2023, joining Eastern Football League club Doncaster East.

The 31-year-old joins the Lions from Greensborough, where he won the Frank Rosbrook Medal as the Northern Football League's best player in 2019.

After a strong tenure with the powerhouse NFL side, Bell departs the Boro in favour of a move where he will link up with former Carlton teammates Sam Rowe and Simon White.

"The DEFC committee are thrilled to announce the signing of Tom Bell for season 2023," a club post reads.

"Tom comes to the den with a wealth of AFL experience and knowledge and we look forward to seeing what Tom will bring both on and off the field.

"The DEFC broader community wishes to Welcome Tom and partner Alana to the football club."

Bell played 72 AFL games between 2012-2018, beginning his career with Carlton.

The Queenslander would play 51 games in the navy blue before departing for a move north to Brisbane.

Bell played 21 games in three seasons with the Lions before being delisted by the club.

Doncaster East finished fifth in the EFL's Premier Division in 2022.
