The Northern Knights have hired new boys and girls head coaches in preparation for the 2023 NAB League campaign, appointing former AFL star Anthony Rocca to the boys' role and Allana Dickie to the girls' role.

Rocca played 242 games for Collingwood and Sydney after being drafted from the Knights in 1994, while Dickie has earned her opportunity after previously assistant coaching Williamstown's VFLW side before also working with the Calder Cannons this past season.

Via a post to their official Instagram account in which they announced the hirings of Rocca and Dickie, the Northern Knights also stated: "The AFL has committed to boosting the resources available to girls pathway programs in Victoria and Tasmania to support the continued progression and growth of girls' football."

"For the first time, all regional pathways programs participating in the NAB League in Victoria and Tasmania will have a dedicated full-time coach for each of their boys and girls teams in 2023."

In other NAB League news, newly-departed Coburg Lions coach Andrew Sturgess is set to accept a head-coaching role at a "yet to be named NAB League club", according to the Herald Sun, capping a successful three-year stint at the Lions.

The new NAB League season is set to get underway in early 2023.
