Former Fremantle key forward Hugh Dixon has been invited to train with West Coast during the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period.
Dixon, who was culled by the Dockers at the end of the 2020 season after just one AFL appearance, linked up with East Fremantle in the WAFL for the 2021 season.
Across nine games for the Sharks' senior side, Dixon booted 19 goals and also gave a helping hand as a ruckman, forging a strong first season outside of the top flight since being drafted to Fremantle in 2017.
The 22-year-old now firms as a considerable chance to gain an AFL lifeline for the 2022 season, with Dixon and fellow WAFL forward Tyler Keitel being the latest to join the Eagles as train-on players for the SSP.
Keitel booted an astonishing 70 goals from 19 games with West Perth last year, with the 26-year-old seen as one of the country's best goalkickers at state level.
Both Keitel and Dixon are likely to be of interest to the Eagles given the uncertain circumstances that surround spearhead Jack Darling, with the West Coast premiership forward currently hesitant to receive a required COVID-19 vaccine.
The pair join Dixon's former teammate Luke Strnadica as a summer trialist, along with South Fremantle duo Tom Blechynden and Toby McQuilkin.
Former Lion Tom Joyce and Claremont midfielder Logan Young have seen their training spells at Lathlain Park conclude, however the pair remain in the frame for a list spot at West Coast.
The Eagles currently have just the one official open list spot for the SSP, however that is expected to double following the retirement of defender Brad Sheppard.
West Coast could see their available list spots increased to three should Darling be moved to the club's inactive list.
AFL clubs have until March 9 to confirm their SSP selections, with remaining list spots able to be filled in June's Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
