WAFL club Subiaco have confirmed the signing of former Fremantle and Essendon ruckman Zac Clarke for the 2023 season.

Clarke, who last played in the AFL in 2019 with the Bombers, has returned to Western Australia to join his former side for the 2023 season.

The 32-year-old has most recently plied his trade at the local level in Victoria with Eastern Football League club Doncaster East.

He last featured for the Lions in 2018, the season between his stints with Fremantle and Essendon, having been picked up by the latter as a Supplemental Selection Period signing.

The veteran ruckman will now rejoin Subiaco, where he won the 2018 WAFL premiership, as a player and ruck coach

"Zac is a proud part of our history and his addition in 2023 will be felt on and off the field," Subiaco football boss Kristian Dicton said in a club statement.

"To have a ruckman of his calibre will assist our midfielders and our development ruckmen greatly.

"We are thrilled to have him on board”.

Clarke's signing follows the Lions' recent announcement of former AFL pair Taj Schofield and Kyron Hayden joining the club for next year.

Clarke brings with him 110 games of AFL experience, having first joined the competition through the 2008 National Draft.
