Amongst all the drama that has arisen at Essendon over the last 24 hours, the club is also understood to have met with former player Dean Solomon over the weekend over a potential role in their football department.
Solomon spent nine years as an assistant coach at Gold Coast after retiring in 2009, and even coached three games as an interim coach in 2017.
He departed the Suns in 2020, but was recently picked up by Mark McVeigh to work in tandem with James Hird at the GWS Giants in an assistant coaching role.
In between his time at Gold Coast and beginning his role at the Giants, Solomon built a health and wellness centre in Kingscliff, New South Wales.
According to AFL Media's Cal Twomey, the Bombers have met with Solomon in regards to a potential football department role.
In what has been nothing short of a chaotic 24 hours for the Essendon Football Club, Solomon would be joining a group of young assistant coaches including Daniel Giansiracusa and Blake Caracella.
In amongst all the chaos, Essendon president Paul Brasher has stepped down, with several members of the board and the club's coaching staff having their futures placed up in the air.
Ben Rutten is one whose job hangs in the balance, with reports that he had been sacked early Monday morning proven to be false.
The future of assistant coach Caracella is also up in the air, with Essendon Chief Executive Officer Xavier Campbell stating "I'm not sure where Blake is going to be next year."
Essendon is heading for a cut-throat off season, with plenty of changes expected from the ground up.
