Recently delisted Fremantle youngster Eric Benning has linked up with WAFL outfit Claremont following his Dockers departure.
The emerging ruck-forward was one of three players not offered a new contract by Fremantle this off-season, with Benning's time at Cockburn coming to an end after two years.
The 20-year-old was drafted to the Dockers as the 54th pick in the 2021 National Draft as a Fremantle Next Generation Academy graduate joining brothers Shane McAdam and Ashley Johnson in the AFL system.
While an AFL debut wouldn't arise, Benning would feature for Peel Thunder's reserves on 29 occasions during his time with the Dockers as well as one appearance for the Thunder's senior side last year.
The promising tall is now set to return to Claremont next year after signing with the Tigers for the 2024 season, linking up with the club that he was drafted from.
"Let's GO! Eric Benning has signed onto Claremont for 2024," a club statement read.
"Having been with the Fremantle Dockers for the last 2 years, he is now back in Tiger Land and ready to launch into the 2024 season."
Benning averaged 11.2 disposals and 17.0 hitouts in his last year with Claremont's Colts side.
The Tigers' senior team finished in fifth this year with a 12-win season before bowing out in the second week of finals. Their reserves would manage a similar feat while their Colts side took out the premiership.
