Retired ex-Geelong and Gold Coast midfielder Charlie Constable has signed with WAFL club the Perth Demons for the 2024 season.

Constable called time on his six-year career in the AFL earlier this month, with his final game with the Suns being their VFL Grand Final win where the 24-year-old captained the Queensland club to a 19-point victory over Werribee.

The East Sandringham junior started his career at Kardinia Park and would play 12 games for Geelong over four years before being delisted at the end of the 2021 season.

The Suns would offer Constable a lifeline via the National Draft later that year, recruiting the midfielder with the 63rd overall pick. Constable would manage just four games with Gold Coast, however would be a leading player at the state league level in their VFL side during his time at Carrara.

2023 would be a highlight year for Constable, who would earn a spot in the VFL Team of the Year at half-back before leading his side to a grand final victory in the absence of captain James Tsitas.

Shortly after helping clinch the Suns' first piece of silverware, Constable decided to call time on his career in the top flight.

The Victorian is now set to head west, linking up with Perth for next season's WAFL campaign.

"Perth Football Club is excited to announce the signing of new recruit, Charlie Constable," a club statement read.

"Constable, having spent 6 years in the AFL system with Geelong and Gold Coast, has decided to continue his career playing with the Perth Demons.

"A highly respected player and leader, having recently captained the Gold Coast Suns to their inaugural VFL Premiership, Constable is now keen to help our club rise and achieve much needed success.

"We look forward with great anticipation to the impact that he has on our young playing group."

Perth finished ninth on the WAFL ladder this year, recording just two wins from 18 games.
