Former Gold Coast senior coach Stuart Dew has reportedly returned to the AFL coaching ranks, joining the Brisbane Lions in a part-time role.
The 44-year-old was sacked by the Suns midway through last season as the club faced another campaign on the outer of the top eight - holding a record of seven wins and nine losses at the time of his departure.
Dew spent six seasons in charge of the Queensland club, amassing a win rate of 30.17% from his 121 games at the helm, with the club's finals drought continuing.
The club replaced the Hawthorn and Port Adelaide premiership player with interim coach Steven King for the final rounds of the 2023 season before ex-Richmond mastermind Damien Hardwick was eventually appointed as his successor before the end of the home and away season.
After spending some time away from the AFL - including a short spell with the Australian Cricket Team - Dew is now back at club land after joining the Brisbane Lions.
According toย AFL.com.au,ย Dew has joined the Lions in a part-time coaching role that will see the ex-Suns boss aid Chris Fagan once a week.
The role will be held through to the end of the current season, with Dew linking up with the Lions on Tuesday.
Dew is set to join the likes of Cameron Bruce, Dale Morris, Ben Hudson, Murray Davis, Daniel Lloyd and Scott Borlace in working under Fagan as part of the Lions' coaching structure.
Brisbane has struggled in the opening half of their 2024 campaign following a grand final appearance last year, winning four of their 11 matches to sit 13th on the ladder.
Following their Round 12 bye, the Lions return to Marcel Stadium this Friday to face an in-form Western Bulldogs outfit.
