Former Hawthorn defender Damon Greaves has landed a college punting position with the University of Kansas for the upcoming 2023-2024 season.
Greaves was among 15 signings confirmed by the Jayhawks this week as they finalised their roster for the year ahead, which will begin in late August when they face Missouri State.
Kansas compete in the Big 12 Conference and are classified in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Bowl Subdivision.
Greaves makes the move to the United States after spending time with ProKick Australia in 2022.
The 22-year-old played 10 games in three seasons with the Hawks, joining the club through the 2018 Rookie Draft.
He would be delisted at the end of the 2021 season and would return to his home state of Western Australia to play with WAFL club East Perth.
Greaves' college move comes just days after former St Kilda player Arryn Siposs and the Philadelphia Eagles booked their spot in Super Bowl LVII, which will take place in Arizona on Monday, February 13 at 10:30am (AEDT).
Another ex-Hawk in Jackson Ross is among the contingent of footballers who have turned to an NFL pursuit following their departure from the AFL, with former Magpie Flynn Appleby and ex-Tiger Ryan Garthwaite also taking steps toward the gridiron code.
