St Kilda are reportedly preparing for life without Luke Dunstan and Jack Billings.

Foxfooty.com.au has reported that the midfield duo are more likely than not to depart after the conclusion of their contracts this year.

Billings, who will miss the rest of this year with a hamstring injury, has reportedly been offered a reduced deal by St Kilda in an effort to potentially push him out of the club. Port Adelaide have shown a preliminary interest in the 25-year-old.

Dunstan has rejuvenated his career this season, averaging career-highs in disposals, marks and tackles.

If Dunstan was to leave St Kilda, one AFL great believes Carlton would be the perfect destination.

โ€œThat also goes to the players you have at your disposal as a football club. In terms of the guys who havenโ€™t got great leg speed, arenโ€™t great tearaway split type players from stoppages, but then canโ€™t spread quickly enough, youโ€™ve got to have the right combination or somebody is going to be left out,โ€ Tim Watson toldย SEN Breakfast.

โ€œTo somebody else, and I think Carlton could be one of those clubs, he could be a key attribute to their midfield mix because of what he can do inside.โ€

After managing only one game in 2020, Dunstan was reportedly shopped around by St Kilda in last years trade period. Gary Lyon speculated this could be behind the 26-year-olds intentions to leave the club.

โ€œHeโ€™s just demanded he gets back into that side by his performances, thatโ€™s why I was surprised to see his name mentioned by Tom Morris that he might head elsewhere,โ€ Lyon told SEN Breakfast.

โ€œMaybe heโ€™s thought โ€˜bugger you, if thatโ€™s what youโ€™ve told me Iโ€™ll stick it up your nostrilsโ€™.โ€

Both Billings and Dunstan are set to enter this off-season as free agents.
