Former Port Adelaide ruckman Brynn Teakle has returned to his old WAFL club after being delisted by the Power and narrowly missing a spot on Collingwood's list for 2024.

Teakle was drafted to Port through the 2022 Mid-Season Draft and debuted two weeks later when he unfortunately broke his collarbone which led to only six games at the AFL level during an 18-month stint at Alberton Oval.

Since being delisted, the 24-year-old spent the summer with reigning premiers Collingwood, training with them for pre-season hoping to be added to their list via the Supplemental Selection Period.

However, having just missed out on a spot at the Magpies, Teakle has since decided to return home to his old WAFL club East Fremantle.

Teakle said he is looking forward to being back in his home state and bringing what he has learnt at the AFL level to help the Sharks meet the requirements to perform each week. Speaking in a club announcement, he also mentioned how he loved his opportunity to train with the Pies over the summer.

"Being at Port, I was able to see how some of the best players in the competition went about preparing, how hard they worked and how much dedication and time they put into recovery. I was able to tweak a few things in those spaces that I believe have helped me develop as a player," said Teakle.

"Collingwood was amazing - their attention to detail on the track and in the gym was elite and everyone at the club just wanted to help you get better. They have that winners mentality and prioritise having fun while working hard and that's something I want to continue to focus on as a player.

"I've certainly missed the WA beaches. I'm also looking forward to being able to head home to Geraldton at any time and spend some time on the family farm in Northampton. The boys have been really supportive over the last 2 seasons."

East Fremantle Sharks Football Manager Brad Dodd backed Teakle to still have an impact at the next level.

"We're excited to welcome Brynn back to Shark Park. He had worked incredibly hard to create an opportunity at the next level, and while it hasn't panned out as well as he would've liked, he is determined to continue to work on his game and keep his name in the mix," said Dodd.

"He'll play mainly as a ruckman with East Fremantle but has shown previously that he can be damaging as a forward also.

East Fremantle's season gets underway on Saturday, March 30 against Peel Thunder at Lane Group Stadium.
