Former West Coast premiership coach John Worsfold has re-joined the club ahead of the 2025 season, taking on the Head of Football role.

Worsfold - who coached the Eagles from 2002 to 2013 - will look after the coaching structure and development, performance and culture, and will work alongside existing football managers – Gavin Bell (AFL), Michelle Cowan (AFLW) and Steve Trewhella (WAFL).

After 12 seasons of playing (West Coast), which followed 19 campaigns as senior coach (West Coast and Essendon), the 2006 premiership mentor took four years off following the COVID-19 interrupted season, leaving the Bombers.

Worsfold then undertook a role at ASX-listed Emeco Group as the General Manager of People and Culture for four years.

And now, he returns to the club where it all began.

"I am excited to be back at the West Coast Eagles as the club strives to progress into the next era of on-field success across all competitions," Worsfold said.

"I have been fortunate to learn a lot in my time and role at Emeco group that has added to my AFL leadership experience. It will be an exciting period to work with some outstanding leaders across all competitions."

Eagles CEO Don Pyke said the breadth of experience Worsfold will bring should only assist with the future endeavours of the Perth club.

"We are excited to see John rejoin the club in a role which we believe will be significant across our football programs. His coaching and football experience will provide vital assistance, leadership and support for our AFL, AFLW and WAFL teams,” Pyke said.

“We have a fresh and exciting group of leaders within our football programs, and the opportunity to add someone with John's experience is significant as we move towards future success."

The appointment of Worsfold follows the signing of Andrew McQualter as senior coach of the club.

Worsfold will commence his role on November 4, 2024, ahead of the pre-season.
