Former Richmond utility Sydney Stack has found a new home for the 2024 season after departing WAFL club Perth last year, signing with Swan Districts.

Stack was delisted by the Tigers at the end of 2022, returning to his home state of Western Australia after a troubled few seasons in the AFL.

The 23-year-old's move back to Perth would see the local talent manage just a pair of Reserves games for the Demons before playing at the lower level.

Stack is now set to return to the WAFL with the Swans, who stated having the former Richmond young gun "playing football is his best chance of creating a positive future for himself".

“Our club has had long conversations with Sydney about the significance of joining the Swans family and how important our club values are for everyone at the club,” Swan Districts chief executive Jeff Dennis said in a statement.

“While we're proud to provide opportunities to reset and reconnect, it cannot disrupt the club's strong culture.”

“We're confident the Swans family will embrace Sydney and help wherever we can.”

Stack played 35 games for Richmond during his time at the club, winning best first-year player and a VFL premiership in his debut season of 2019.

The forward-defender hybrid played 17 games at senior level the same year, but struggled to cement his place under Damien Hardwick after - while a string of off-field matters would also hinder his career.

Stack joins a strong group of recruits for Swan Districts, who have signed former Port Adelaide defender Jake Pasini, Geelong VFL best and fairest Jye Chalcraft and SANFL star Nick Nik Rokahr.

The Swans' first game of the 2024 season is scheduled for Saturday, March 30 against West Coast at Steel Blue Oval.
