Former Carlton and Brisbane star forward Brendan Fevola has decided to pull on the boots once again, signing with Essendon District Football League (EDFL) club East Sunbury.

The two-time Coleman medallist was a dominant figure in the navy blue for over a decade before off-field controversies derailed his career that, ultimately saw him join the Lions ahead of the 2010 season.

Fevola kicked 623 goals across 204 games, rivalling the likes of Lance Franklin, Matthew Lloyd and Nick Riewoldt in an era dominated by key forwards.

Since retiring after one season in Queensland, the 43-year-old has featured in many leagues throughout Victoria, playing for Yarrawonga (Ovens & Murray Football League), Deer Park (Western Region Football League), Melton South (Ballarat Football League), Monbulk (AFL Outer East) and Hastings (Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League).

Fevola's signing at East Sunbury will be a massive boost for the Division 2 club, who failed to win a game in 2024, going 0-16.

"By the time footy season starts I'll be 44, that's old man age,โ€ Fevola said The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick.

"They struggled last year, zip and 16, didn't win a game last year.

"I'm going to play a full season (16 games). I'm trying to get a few teammates to come along with me but I haven't heard from anyone yet.

"I'm just like John Farnham, I just keep coming back."

East Sunbury released a statement on Friday night, expressing their excitement of signing the star forward.
"The East Sunbury Football Club are over the moon to announce our next HUGE signing!
With a stellar career at AFL level and grassroots footy and booting over 600 goals at Carlton and Brisbane, this player needs no further introduction," the club statement read.
