Former West Coast forward Jarrod Cameron will officially return to his former club Swan Districts for the 2023 WAFL season.
Cameron departed West Coast in 2021 as a delisted player despite being contracted for a further year with the Eagles, opting to take a break from AFL football.
The younger brother of Brisbane star Charlie, Cameron decided to play for Upper Great Southern League club Boddington in 2022 instead of pulling on the black and white Swan Districts jumper.
Still looking to rekindle his love for the game, Cameron has returned to the training track with the Swans, joining the club where he last played before landing in the AFL.
โI'm thrilled to welcome Jarrod back to the club. He's a fantastic young footballer with a wealth of talent and potential. Having begun his career with our colts team, he is no stranger to the club and our style of play," Swan Districts coach Andrew Pruyn said in a club statement.
"During his time with the West Coast Eagles, Jarrod demonstrated his ability to perform at the highest level of the sport. He's a dynamic forward with incredible speed and agility, who has an elite talent in creating scoring opportunities.
"I see him as a valuable addition to our squad. His experience at the elite level of the sport will bring a new dimension to the team and will be a great asset to our young players. Jarrod's positive and vibrant personality will also be a vital addition to our team dynamics, and his ability to showcase his speed and creativity will be an important factor in our attacking play.
"I am looking forward to working with Jarrod and seeing him develop further. I'm confident that with his skills and experience, he will play an instrumental role in helping the team to achieve success in the upcoming season.
"Additionally, I am excited to see him give back to the community that supported him throughout his career, by mentoring and helping our young players to develop their skills and reach their full potential.โ
Cameron played 12 games across his first two years with West Coast before battling an ankle injury that kept him sidelined for most of the 2021 campaign to play no senior games.
Swan Districts will open their 2023 season against East Perth at Leederville Oval on Friday, April 7.
