Each round this season, the Zero Hanger team - consisting of editor Mitch Keating, senior reporter Jack Fitzpatrick, general manager Nick Splitter, and deputy editor Ed Carmine - will vote on every game to establish our AFL MVP for 2022.
Votes will be given out on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 system for each game, meaning the maximum score any player can record in any game is 20
Round 4 was another entertaining round of football, with some major upsets featuring alongside some close calls. Some new names stepped up for their teams for the first time, sweeping the votes and making a big statement.
With current leader Patrick Cripps injured, other players had a chance to close the gap. Max Gawn looked unplayable in a rampaging Melbourne team, while Jeremy McGovern, Darcy Parish and Will Brodie swept the votes for their respective performances.
Max Gawn had an absolute field day against the Power, with the big man proving too much for hindered Port ruckman Scott Lycett to handle. 33 hit-outs, 25 disposals and a goal made him the clear man of the match. James Hames and Ed Langdon also stood out for the Dees, while Travis Boak was a shining light in an otherwise poor Port team.

Sharpshooter Tom Hawkins was at his usual best against the Lions, with a bag of five to go alongside Geelong’s ten-point victory. Isaac Smith ran the show with 29 disposals and a goal, while Daniel Rich and Daniel McStay put up solid performances of their own for the unlucky Lions.

The Swans proved just a bit too much to handle for the unlucky Roos, with Isaac Heeney and Justin McInerney completely taking over. 30 disposals for McInerney, two goals for Heeney, and a further 28 disposals for Callum Mills were enough to get the Swans over the line. Jy Simpkin stood out for the Roos with a game-high 33 disposals.
