Fremantle forward Jye Amiss will remain a Docker until 2029, adding four more years to his original contract that ended at the conclusion of 2025.
Drafted at Pick 8 of the 2021 count, Amiss has excelled at his position in the forward line in 2023, kicking 29 goals from 14 games and is quickly becoming a fan favourite in Fremantle. He currently leads Fremantle's goalkicking ahead of veteran Micheal Walters.
Amiss spoke with Fremantle Media following his contract call, saying how much he has enjoyed his time as a Docker and that it was an easy choice to stay.
"I love the Club and I love the people that are here," Amiss said.
"It was an easy decision to stay here for a longer period of time. It's a good time for us to take the Club forward."
Amiss has also shown his dedication to improving his skills on the field, especially with ground balls that have been historically difficult for people of his size.
"That's something that I want to add to my game, being a dangerous ground level player,” Amiss said.
"With my height, I think it is going to be a big thing. Onwards in my career, I want to bring different aspects of my game and improve that while building on the strengths that I have as well."
Head of player personnel David Walls also spoke on how special it is to have a young player who is so keen to improve.
"What he's doing for his age for young key forward is so rare," Walls said.
"The calibre of key forward that he is, is very hard to find. He's producing as a second-year player at 19, he's still so inexperienced but showing so much.
"He's got such a great attitude, great character and work ethic. He wants to be a really good player in the competition and he's exactly what we've been looking for.
"It's exciting to see where he can get to in the next five or six years. We had high hopes for him, but to do what he's doing at this stage is exceeding expectations."
Amiss wasn't the only 2021 draftee to sign on with the Dockers this week, with the announcement of Matthew Johnson also adding a further year to his contract to now be penned until 2026 on Tuesday.
