The Fremantle Dockers have officially announced Jade Rawlings as their new backline coach, replacing outgoing assistant Matthew Boyd for the upcoming 2025 season.
Rawlings, a former AFL player with Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs, and North Melbourne, brings extensive experience to the Dockers after his successful four-season stint as head coach of Norwood in the SANFL.
Since 2021, Rawlings, affectionately known as "Twig," guided Norwood to three finals appearances, including a 2022 SANFL Premiership victory and a recent Grand Final appearance in 2024.
Norwood confirmed the news on Tuesday, highlighting Rawlings' impact on the club both on and off the field. Reflecting on his time there, Rawlings expressed gratitude for his years with the Redlegs and spoke warmly about the meaningful experiences he and his family shared in South Australia.
โMy four years at Norwood have been incredible. Norwood's had a really positive influence on my life,โ Rawlings said.

Rawlings' leadership at Norwood extended beyond club duties. In 2023 and 2024, he served as the State Coach, leading the SANFL State Team to victories over WAFL and VFL teams, earning him The Advertiser's Coach of the Year accolade in 2024.
Norwood CEO James Fantasia and President Paul Di Iulio expressed deep gratitude for Rawlings' transformative role in bringing Norwood back to the forefront of SANFL football, noting his contributions to the 2022 Premiership and overall team development.

Ryan Daniels of Channel 7 confirmed Rawlings' connection with Fremantle had strengthened over recent weeks, with head coach Justin Longmuir seeing him as an ideal addition to bolster the Dockers' defense.
In a small slip-up, Fremantle accidentally shared the news of Rawlings' appointment earlier than intended, leading the club to apologise to Norwood supporters who may have learned of the transition before Norwood could officially announce it.
With this new role, Rawlings reunites with the AFL system, bringing his proven coaching acumen to Fremantle.
As the Dockers set their sights on the 2025 season, they hope Rawlings' expertise will be instrumental in fulfilling their premiership aspirations.
Meanwhile, Norwood has announced that they will immediately begin searching for Rawlings' successor.
